PROFESSIONAL READING ABOUT EDUCATION

I. Introduction
Working conditions play a much larger role than retirement in explaining why teachers transfer, leave a class, or leave the profession. This brief looks at the research about teacher turnover, and finds that while teachers' decisions to stay or leave a particular school is contingent on a variety of factors, in all cases the key seems to lie in the level of success teachers encounter in raising their students' academic performances.
II. Summary
Teachers are crucial to the success of our students. Yet many of them are leaving their schools and the profession every year, particularly in poorer, lower-performing schools. Several studies have attempted to identify why teachers leave and how to stem their turnover, but few have identified the quality of teachers who are departing. As in any profession, not all attrition is bad, but whether bad or good, it has financial ramifications
III. Reaction/Reflection

This brief explores the costs associated with teachers leaving the profession and their schools, the characteristics of those likely to leave, and what can be done to prevent unnecessary and costly turnover.

MY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN OR CAREER PLAN

Good Day! I am Paulo A. Yu, a student teacher from Marilao, Bulacan. I still remember the date February 16, 2014 when I took the BulSU entrance exam. At first, I have confusion because my first choice was civil engineering but unfortunately, the proctor told me that at that moment, the remaining slots for engineering was already gone so I made a decision to take my second choice which is Bachelor in Secondary Education Major in Social Studies. A few months later, I passed the entrance exam.

My journey began when I first enter Bulacan State University wearing blue pants and white polo. At first, I was very nervous because I didn’t know yet what will happen to me for the next four years of my stay but my confidence and ability to easily make friends with others helped me to build myself and survive the college life.

Months from now, I am expected to graduate my bachelor degree. I have many plans on my head when I leave my dear alma mater, BulSU. Using the knowledge and skills that College of Education equipped in me, I can easily apply it to the field that fits my qualifications. I am going to be a good teacher someday, I sense that. I know that I will impart something beneficial to the young ones, the students. Something that can make and transform them to be a more productive citizens of the country.

I have dreams to fulfill tomorrow. And I will not waste every opportunities to achieve this goals. This is me, this is my dream, this is my now.

STUDENT TEACHER'S PRAYER

Almighty God,

We are truly thankful of the blessing that you have poured upon us.

We are thankful for the gift of life, for the brilliant students, for the loving and caring family,

for the cooperative and compassionate teachers, for the supportive principal and for this wonderful day that we are about to share together with your guidance and protection.

Bless us all as we are about to deal a new lesson, new knowledge to inculcate, new experiences to embrace, new ideas to share, new values to feed our morale, new output of our painstaking labor to fulfill our satisfaction, new opinions to open up with others, new camaraderie to develop and a lot more that we are humbly asking from your most benevolent heart that grant simple requests into a sure reality.

Lord, Bless AFGBMTS that it may dynamically and competitively become a center for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom; and grant that those who teach and those learn may find you to be the source of all truth and wisdom.

Lord, we ask forgiveness for all the sins and shortcomings that we have committed and we are sincerely accepting your Holy Spirit to rule our hearts and minds so that we can avoid the temptations and some forms of evil as we continue fulfilling our roles in this beautiful world as children of God.  We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son together with the Holy Spirit, Amen.
